Requirements for growing conditions… Roses bloom profusely and lastingly only in sunny areas. The best soils are light, humus-rich loams that are permeable to air and moisture. Regular watering is required, especially during the growth and flowering period. Spring pruning of the bush is carried out in accordance with the belonging of the variety to a particular garden group. In winter, plants need shelter. During the season, roses need 6 - 7 dressings (every 2 weeks) with organic and mineral fertilizers. After removing the shelter and spring pruning, a complete mineral fertilizer and ammonium nitrate are applied (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water). Then rotted manure is introduced (1/2 bucket for each bush). When buds appear, they are fed with potassium nitrate, and then watered with fermented mullein diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 or chicken droppings (1:20).Before flowering, it is desirable to feed 2 sodium humate (1 teaspoon per 40 liters of water), 2 liters under a bush. During flowering, roses are not fed, but immediately after its completion and cutting off the faded flowers, complete mineral fertilizer is applied and watering is done with slurry. In the second half of summer, the dose of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers is increased, and at the end of summer, nitrogen is excluded from dressings. When grown in a container, an earthen mixture is prepared from humus, leaf and sod land and sand (1: 1: 1: 3) with the addition of complete mineral fertilizer (NPK 1: 1: 1.5, without chlorine, in the amount of 1 tbsp. bucket of mixture). In the second half of summer, the dose of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers is increased, and at the end of summer, nitrogen is excluded from dressings. It is possible to recommend for fragrant rose gardens and already almost forgotten, but are now spreading again in many countries of the world, very fragrant varieties of old roses, created on the basis of r. damask (R. damascene), p. French (R. galli-sa) and p. columnar, or centifolia (R. centifolia). One-time flowering essential oil roses 'Crimean red', 'Crimean pink', 'Fallow deer' and 'Novinka' will be very appropriate in such rose gardens.

Use in garden compositions

It is especially interesting to select varieties with a similar scent, creating a certain emotional effect with its help. Considering that the centifolic aroma has a calming, relaxing effect, creates an atmosphere of romance, it is possible to plant varieties with such an aroma under the bedroom windows or around a gazebo. Other types of rose aromas tone up, increase vital energy. Their scent will be especially appropriate near the porch or along the path leading to the house from the gate. You can include roses, except, perhaps, two-tone varieties, and mixborders.

Accompanying plants. Roses are especially successfully combined with lavender bushes, harmonizing with it in aroma. In spring, daffodils, tulips and forget-me-nots can bloom among the rose bushes.
