1. Care of miniature roses in spring

The main time for planting miniature roses (and for regions with harsh winters - and the only one), this is the period when waking plants need increased care and attention. The work schedule directly depends on how early the snow melts and whether it will be possible to unwrap the roses earlier.

Works to remember in March:

  • planting in pots or digging in roses purchased through promotions, early sales and catalogs;
  • the beginning of airing the shelters of miniature roses;
  • transplanting potted roses wintering in a cool room or greenhouse;
  • transplanting indoor roses, which they plan to "transfer" to the garden.

In the southern regions, you can also perform the following procedures:

  • planting roses in containers or with an open root system (with an obligatory protective layer of high mulch);
  • removal of shelters from roses;
  • cleaning the soil from old mulch, loosening the soil and re-mulching;
  • first dressing for roses.

Works to remember in April:

  • gradual removal of shelter from roses;
  • removing old mulch and loosening the soil;
  • creating a new mulching layer with a height of 5 to 8 cm;
  • the introduction of the first feeding with nitrogen fertilizers (after the beginning of the appearance of young shoots);
  • planting new miniature roses with an open or closed root system with the obligatory high mulching of the soil (these crumbs are not afraid of frost, but it is better to protect the plants from the spring sun and severe frosts with non-woven materials);
  • sanitary cleaning of all miniature roses (removal of damaged shoots);
  • pruning repeatedly blooming roses;
  • the formation of ground cover (if there is a need to limit the spread of lashes);
  • rejuvenation of roses that bloomed poorly last year by pruning two-thirds of the shoots

In the southern regions, from the second half of April, roses are planted only in containers.

Works to remember in May:

  • planting roses with a closed root system;
  • the beginning of watering during periods of drought;
  • weed control;
  • preventive treatments for fungal diseases;
  • first monitoring of shoots and leaves, checking for traces of diseases and pests;
  • taking out into the garden or starting hardening of potted and container garden roses;
  • replanting and planting roses for the pot garden and decorating the terrace;
  • planting or digging indoor roses into the soil in the garden;
  • taking indoor roses into the garden.

In the southern regions, in May, you can also fertilize at the budding stage with full or potassium-phosphorus fertilizer and start tying up the shoots and directing them to form.
