4. Caring for miniature roses in winter
This is the time for studying literature and catalogs, searching for new varieties and planning. In regions with mild winters, if the weather is favorable, you can continue planting work, and even prune roses. But where winters are harsh, leaving comes down to a simple inspection and the search for new ideas.

Works to remember in December:
- studying catalogs and planning new plantings;
- digging the pots, which were left for winter flowering and a dormant period in the garden, transferring them to cold rooms, shortening the shoots by half and moving them after 1-2 weeks to room conditions;
- final shelter of roses and inspections of shelters with airing during periods of thaw.
In the southern regions, you can also perform the following procedures:
- pruning re-blooming roses;
- digging in seedlings in greenhouses.
Jobs to not forget about in January:
- browsing catalogs and studying new varieties of varieties, ordering planting material;
- checking of shelters and work on snow distribution;
- inspection of cuttings of roses;
- preventive treatments for garden roses in containers and pots;
- purchase of fertilizers for the next season.

Works to remember in February:
- planting rose seedlings in pots that we managed to buy ahead of time or digging them in a greenhouse and in a garden under a shelter;
- checking shelters and distributing snow;
- checking and preparing inventory;
- studying catalogs, ordering seedlings;
- transplanting and taking out into the light and in the warmth of roses, which were transferred to a pot culture to interrupt the dormant period and prepare for early spring flowering.
In the southern regions, you can also perform the following procedures:
- pruning re-blooming roses;
- measures for ventilation and protection against waterlogging;
- soil improvement and soil preparation for planting;
- planting roses with open roots or transplanting roses from pots (if soil conditions and temperature allow).
