For lilies, areas with diffused sunlight are suitable, although the lily can accept the shade. With strong overheating in the sun, lilies may experience wilting of leaves and the flower will fade much earlier. A draft is also destructive for a lily.

Most varieties of lilies will tolerate any soil, but the plant will grow best on loamy, sandy loam soils with a mixture of leaf humus. To get richly flowering plants, you should not plant lilies on heavy soil, insufficiently cultivated. Also, do not plant lilies near poplar and elm, as they take too much moisture from the flower.

The best time for planting lilies is the end of August. During the fall, the flower will have time to take root and even form a rosette of wintering leaves. But practice shows that the lily can be successfully transplanted both in spring and summer. It is advisable to carry out summer and spring planting without disturbing the clod of earth around the bulb.

When planting a lily bulb, you need to dig a hole that is slightly more than three times the diameter of the bulb. At the bottom of the pit, a layer of coarse sand should be poured, then the bulb should be laid, spreading the roots. The bulb should also be sprinkled with sand and then covered with earth. Lily loves abundant watering, so the planting site must be well watered.

During the summer period, it is necessary to loosen the planting of lilies, water abundantly in the heat and remove weeds. When the arrows fade, they are cut off, leaving 2/3 of the shoot.

Lily is very responsive to feeding. When sprouts appear, wood ash, bone meal and nitrogen fertilizers are added to the ground. In June, they begin to feed them with potash and phosphorus fertilizers. Lily also responds well to feeding with highly diluted chicken droppings.
