7. Cabbage, cabbage and cabbage

Through seedlings, you can grow far not only white cabbage from among the early and late varieties. This method is very good for Brussels sprouts, savoy, red cabbage, cauliflower, as well as broccoli and kohlrabi. They will not give up pre-sowing for seedlings and the popular today collard greens - Peking cabbage and Pak-choi.

All representatives of cabbage are distinguished by the fact that they do not like too hot temperatures at the stage of growing seedlings: they have enough temperature range from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Chinese and Peking cabbage will best give birth in autumn or early sowing. Cabbage seeds retain their germination capacity for only 4-5 years.

For all early varieties of cabbage, as well as broccoli and cauliflower, mid-March is considered optimal sowing time. For medium and late cabbage, the optimal sowing time is the end of April.

For greenhouses and under the film, Chinese species are sown in March, for open ground - in early April or early July for the autumn harvest.

Seedlings of early cabbage, as well as broccoli and cauliflower, are transferred to the ground at the age of about 50 days or a little younger, of Peking cabbage and pak choy - at 20-25 days in a rather cold ground under a film or in greenhouses.

Such cabbage can be planted in open soil only from the second decade of May, under a film - in the first decade. Mid-season and late varieties of cabbage are transferred to open soil only after all other types of cabbage have been planted. Seedlings of medium and late cabbage should be transferred 35-40 days after sowing.
