1. The flaming beauty of Ixora

Only pentases can compete with the ixors in terms of the showiness and "heaviness" of flowering. Ixors are one of the most exclusive indoor plants. Ranked among the most demanding crops, with one of the most spectacular appearances, Ixora strikes with the harmony of the beauty of its leaves and flowering - equally impressive.

Ixora (Ixora) - evergreen flowering shrubs, distinguished by an amazing crown density. With a height of only up to half a meter, when properly formed, they form stunning wide bushes - spreading, densely branching, spectacular.

The Xors are getting out of hand quickly. But you want to endlessly admire their dark, lanceolate leaves with a beautiful semi-matte surface, densely sitting on the shoots and forming a lush, massive crown.

The rich color of the leaves seems to absorb light and looks especially impressive in summer. Ixora bushes are densely leafy even at the bottom of the shoots, and this only enhances the impression of them.

Flowering time. Ixors begin to bloom in May or June, delighting until mid-autumn. The duration of their flowering largely depends on the quality of care.

Color spectrum. Among indoor plants, it is difficult to find a culture with such bright shades of a fiery scale: yellow, red and orange, dark pink colors in Ixors amaze with the purity of acrylic tones and saturation. Their colors are always monochromatic.

Features of flowering. Hemispherical inflorescences-scutes bloom in the axils of the upper leaves. With proper care, they almost completely hide the greenery, as if creating a new level above it. The scutes look very massive, they consist of hundreds of small four-petal flowers with a very thin and long tube, which surprise with their cruciform shape.

It is not difficult to select conditions for Xors. Light-loving, but not fond of the direct sun, they do not adapt well even to partial shade. The main task when choosing a place is the ability to lower the temperature for the winter and protect it from hot temperatures in summer. Stable indoor performance allows Xors to bloom relentlessly all summer. Ixors prefer to winter at a temperature of about 15 degrees Celsius.

Conditions and care for indoor ixors

Caring for Xors is not easy. They need high humidity, which can be maintained by spraying. But the best results can be achieved by installing humidifiers.

Watering. Regular, plentiful in summer and restrained in winter, preventing the soil from drying out. The water from the pallets must be drained; between waterings, the soil at the top must dry out.

Top dressing. It is carried out during the period of growth and flowering, every 10-14 days, with fertilizers for flowering plants.

Pruning. For this plant, it is required. The bushes are shaped to the desired size and keeping them compact. Pruning is carried out only after flowering, usually to preserve the leaves at the bottom of the bush, long branches are shortened by half.

Transplant. Ixora is transplanted as the roots master the substrate, only as needed, in late February or early March. It needs a humus-rich, rough, loose substrate with an acidic reaction. The drainage layer must be high. Ixora loves peat mulching.

Reproduction. Ixora is propagated by cuttings that take root only at high temperatures.
