Ingredients for Valentine's Day Hearts
For the test:
- 1 tbsp. flour (about 130 g);
- 100 g butter (i.e. half a pack);
- 1 tbsp. l. Sahara.
- 50 g of chocolate (half a bar);
- 1-2 tbsp. l. butter;
- sprinkling confectionery.
Method of making shortbread cookies "Hearts" for Valentine's Day:
Prepare shortbread dough: sift flour into a bowl, add sugar and softened butter, cut into pieces.
Rub the ingredients with our hands. First, you will have a crumb. Continue to knead the dough and the crumb clumps into one lump. If the dough crumbles, add a little soft butter. If, on the contrary, it sticks to your hands, add a little flour. The finished dough is soft, does not crumble, but does not stick. Put the dough in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. In the meantime, you can click and peel the nuts for decoration. It will be delicious with any: walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts or cashews.
After taking the dough out of the refrigerator, lightly dust the table and baking sheet with flour. Roll out the dough into a crust from 0.5 to 1 cm thick. Thin biscuits bake faster and get crisper, while thicker biscuits will take a little longer to bake, but they will be crumbly.
Cut out the cookies from the dough with a shape of a heart and carefully, since the cookies are very tender, we transfer them to a baking sheet. While you are making cookies, turn on the oven - let it warm up to 200 ° C.
At this point, you can sprinkle the cinnamon or vanilla sugar on the cookies if you don't want to make the chocolate icing. You need to mix 1.5-2 tbsp in a saucer. l. sugar and ¼ tsp. cinnamon (or 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar), or sugar with chopped nuts, sprinkle on each cookie and lightly press down on the sprinkles with your finger to avoid sprinkling. If you glaze cookies with chocolate, we bake just like that.
We bake cookies at 200-210 ° C for 20-25 minutes, taking into account the characteristics of your oven. The cookies should be dry, crumbly and slightly golden, but still light. If the cookies are brown, then they have been overexposed. But that's okay, now we will prepare the icing and sprinkling for decoration!
Break the chocolate into pieces and place in a water bath. When melted, add a piece of soft butter (15-25 g) and stir. The butter will melt to form a smooth chocolate coating. Dip cooled cookies in it with the top side - or apply glaze with a teaspoon.
If the icing is too thick, add a little more butter to the chocolate. If it is liquid, you can bring it to the desired consistency by adding cocoa powder.
Until the glaze has hardened, sprinkle the Valentine's Day cookies with chopped nuts and colored confectionery sprinkles. To make the icing freeze faster when finished, put the cookies in the refrigerator. And when the decoration "grabs", carefully transfer the heart cookies to the dish. Now we will make coffee, tea or cocoa, and a surprise for our beloved sweet tooth is ready!
Happy Holidays! Love and be loved!
