A picnic pie made from simple and affordable products inspired by French recipes. The pie turns out to be quite dense, but juicy, it is convenient to take it with you on a picnic or on the road - the dough hardly crumbles. Improvise with fillers! It is clear that boiled sausage will replace sausages, but you can diversify the filling by adding pieces of hard cheese, finely chopped ham, sun-dried tomatoes. The hot picnic pie is very tasty, but even when it cools down, it does not lose its taste.
I often prepare such pies in the middle of the week, as it takes very little time to prepare, and while the pie is "sitting" in the oven, there is always something to do for a practical housewife! The result is very attractive baked goods - there is not much time, but it looks like a lot of energy has been spent.
The classic cake pan is rectangular, but you can bake it in any shape you like.

Ingredients for a picnic cake
For the test:
- 3 chicken eggs;
- 155 g of premium wheat flour;
- 45 g sour cream;
- 35 ml of vegetable oil;
- 2 tsp oregano;
- 1 tsp dried thyme;
- 1/2 tsp soda or baking powder;
- 350 g milk sausages;
- 120 g pitted black olives.
- 2-3 onions;
- salt, vegetable oil.
Method of making picnic pie
Chicken eggs, ideally organic eggs from free-range chickens, break into a deep dish for dough and add vegetable oil to them.
Stir eggs and vegetable oil with a whisk, add sour cream, and mix the liquid ingredients again until smooth.
Combine premium wheat flour with baking soda or baking powder, salt, add dried herbs - oregano and thyme.
Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients, knead the dough. The dough for this cake does not need to be kneaded for a long time; mix the ingredients well enough so that no lumps remain in the flour.
Cut two or three small heads of onions very finely and fry in vegetable oil until transparent, add a pinch of salt, cool the finished onion. Cut sausages into cubes, black olives into rings. Add the filling to the bowl with the dough, mix thoroughly.
Cover the baking dish (in this recipe a rectangular shape measuring 22 x 11 centimeters) with oiled parchment. We spread the dough on the parchment, level it.
Tip - always leave long pieces of parchment at the edges of the mold, it is convenient for them to pull the finished cake out of the mold.
We bake the cake for 35 minutes in an oven heated to 175 degrees.
The dough to which baking powder or soda is added cannot be left damp for a long time (the soda starts working, bubbles form), therefore, if you are preparing this cake, then first turn on the oven to heat up. By the time you collect the cake, the oven is already well preheated and the cake can be sent straight to the hot oven.
We remove the finished picnic cake from the mold, remove the paper immediately, otherwise it will dry out and stick. Cool the pie on the wire rack.
