7. Cutting sparmania
Better known as indoor linden, the charming indoor shrub Sparmannia is a plant loved by many, but never considered elite. After all, sparmania is too easy to propagate, and it grows so quickly that anyone can independently breed this gentle light green miracle.
Sparmania is a tree-like shrub with evergreen leaves. The yellowish pubescent shoots seem graceful, although all attention is drawn to the large angular-lobed, reminiscent of linden heart-shaped leaves. The edge on both sides emphasizes the beauty of the greenery with a muted and fairly light green color.
Umbrellas of sparmania flowers at the tops of the twigs seem too delicate for such a plant.
Despite the fact that sparmania can be obtained from seeds, cuttings are still the easiest way to propagate room linden. In the plant, semi-lignified cuttings cut from flowering shoots are used for propagation by cuttings. The main condition is the presence of three nodes on the sparmania cuttings and their standard length is from 7 to 10 cm. Cuttings can be rooted without treatment with a growth stimulant, and with it, in sand, peat, perlite or even just in water.
Rooting of sparmania will take more than 2 weeks, depending on the air temperature and the chosen environment. Still, the plant usually takes 1 to 2 months to root.
Bright lighting and room temperatures in summer with a cool winter is just as important a requirement for this houseplant as access to fresh air. It is difficult to achieve success with sparmania without high air humidity and abundant, but accurate watering, as well as without light pruning after flowering. Top dressing for this culture should be frequent, but fertilizers are applied only in spring and summer.
