3. Dimorphotheca

The dimorphotes that came to us from South Africa are one of the most beautiful annuals with inflorescences-baskets. They look modern and bold, bring liveliness and brightness to any composition.

The dark "eyes" of the dimorphotek and their, albeit not flashy, but beautiful greenery adorn the gardens with neat accents. Abundance and bright colors, impeccable shapes and lines - all these are the advantages of one of the most fashionable summers of our time.

Herbaceous annuals with straight shoots branching from the very base form very neat, most often, hemispherical or cushion-shaped bushes from 15 to 40 cm in height.

The intense green color of the leaves perfectly emphasizes the catchy inflorescences. And they are in Dimorphoteks, although they are ordinary cinnamon, are easily recognized in any company. Radiant, large, about 5-7 cm in diameter, with dark brown spots at the base of the petals, forming, together with the center of dark tubular flowers, the same "eye", they sit on very thin but strikingly strong peduncles. Dimorphoteka inflorescences bloom in such an amount that the whole bush seems to be entirely dotted with flower baskets.

Dimorphoteca flowering period: from June to September.

Colors: white, yellow, orange, pink, reed petals with a purple bottom edge.

The use of dimorphosis: in flower beds, groups, flower beds from summer gardens, rock gardens, rockeries, mixborders.

Dimorphoteka in April can be sown only in greenhouses, but in open ground, crops are sown only in May. Plants are afraid of root injuries even at a very young age and it is better to sow them at once in a permanent place with thinning (it will not be possible to preserve excess seedlings). Germination of Dimorphoteka seeds takes 1 to 2 weeks.

Lighting: bright or bright sunny.

Soil for dimorphoteka: sandy loam, loose, light, with low humus content, without excess moisture.

Features of the selection of the place: Dimorphotes do not tolerate any stagnation of water and do not tolerate high humidity.

Dimorphic seeds can be sown both in grooves and in groups (or nests). Dense sowing is undesirable: the plants are immediately sown with a distance of 5-10 cm between seeds in a row or more densely, but with thinning of seedlings by 15-20 cm.

Dimorphoteka care is greatly simplified due to its drought tolerance. No fertilizing is carried out for the plant (except for poor soils, on which 1-2 procedures with full mineral fertilizers are sufficient). Fading inflorescences should be removed regularly.
