9. Laurel noble
Laurel noble (Laurus nobilis) is a perennial evergreen plant. Its dark green leathery leaves are very high in phytoncides.
The plant is unpretentious, does not require additional lighting and grows well in indoor conditions. In winter, it feels better at a temperature of about +15 ° C with reduced watering.
Features of growing laurel in indoor conditions
For the first two years, the root system of laurel does not develop very intensively, so the pot is not very large. The composition of the soil mixture: sod land (2 parts), leafy soil (1 part), humus (1 part), peat (1 part), sand (1 part) and be sure to add a small amount of ash.
Laurel can be propagated most quickly by cuttings. Laurel tolerates pruning and shearing well.

Application of laurel in medicine
This well-known culinary plant is also medicinal. Laurel essential oil has a mild sedative and relaxing effect. It is also considered a good antiseptic, choleretic and anti-neurological agent.
With dizziness, it is enough to apply fresh laurel leaves to the temples. Perhaps it was this feature of bay leaves that was the main reason why the Romans chose the plant for making wreaths for the winners of the Olympic Games, and not at all because it was considered a symbol of valor and wisdom.
The use of laurel in cooking
I often use freshly plucked laurel leaves to keep meats fresh in the refrigerator. I think it is unnecessary to write about the use of dried laurel leaves in cooking.
Dear readers, in the article I talked about medicinal plants that I personally grow on the windowsill. I am sure there are also interesting plants from the point of view of medicine and cooking, which can be taken from the garden to the house in the fall. If you grow such, share your experience in the comments to the article. I will be very grateful.
