Oven-baked potatoes prepared according to this recipe are so tasty that they can be served not only as a side dish for a meat dish, but also as an independent hot snack. I don't like boiled potatoes, which are traditionally used to cover a dish with baked chicken or ham. Most often, the unfortunate potato remains unclaimed on the festive table, and the owners deal with it the next day after the holiday on their own. The baked potatoes in this recipe are stuffed with butter-fried onions and aromatic spices. I saw a similar recipe for baked potatoes in cookbooks called American Potatoes. In a word, if you decide to bake a whole chicken or turkey for the festive table, then be sure to supplement the dish with this recipe, the guests will be grateful!

You do not need to peel the tubers. Firstly, it turns out beautifully and appetizing, and secondly, it has been scientifically proven that there are many useful microelements in the peel, which are preserved during heat treatment.

Ingredients for making baked potatoes:
- 6 large potatoes;
- 200 g of onions;
- 50 g butter;
- 40 ml olive oil;
- 50 g grated cheese;
- dried thyme, dried carrots, paprika, pepper, salt.
Method for cooking potatoes baked in the oven
For this baked potato recipe, you need to pick potatoes specially. We select large, oblong tubers without visible damage. If you are preparing a certain number of servings, I advise you to add a few extra potatoes, you never know what will be inside.
Wash the tubers thoroughly with a brush, do not peel the peel!
Put the potatoes in a deep saucepan, pour boiling water, cook for 20 minutes.

Cut a thin slice from the potato, then carefully scrape out the middle with a spoon so that the walls remain about a centimeter thick. We make "boats" from all the potatoes.

Chop the onion finely. Pour a tablespoon of olive oil into a pan, add butter, melt. Throw chopped onion into the melted butter, sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Cook the onion for 10-12 minutes, until it becomes caramelized.

Chop the middle of the potatoes finely with a knife, add them to the onion pan - this is the basis of our baked potato filling.

Now we season the baked potato filling - add dried thyme, 2-3 teaspoons of dried carrots, paprika, salt to taste, mix well.

Pour the remaining olive oil onto a non-stick baking sheet and place the potato boats. We "stain" the boats in oil on all sides, so that when baked they get a crispy crust.

We fill the boats with the filling tightly, form a small hill with our hands.

We heat the oven to 250 degrees. We send the baking sheet to the bottom shelf. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle with grated cheese 5-7 minutes before cooking.
