Areas in the garden that are intended for receiving compost, its maturation and harvesting are often called compost yards, although not all plots can boast of a large area for such a purpose. So, most often, to get your own compost, only a compost pit or a special container is isolated. Depending on how much area the compost yard occupies, strategies for masking it are also selected.

Large areas or large compost pits are hidden behind fences that fit organically into the garden. From the point of view of the method of masking, two types of hiding objects are distinguished:

  1. hedges, or vegetable camouflage;
  2. stationary fences and additional decoration tools.

The arrangement of hiding objects and hedges is carried out at some distance from the compost yard itself, so that it is convenient to work and move inside the zone. Regardless of the type of fence, they must hide the entire area behind them from the eyes, create a closed area with a compost yard inside, level the unattractive sides of such a purely practical object.

Living fences, trimmed or landscaped, create spectacular and lush plant shields that not only hide the compost yard, but also serve as a garden decoration. It is only necessary to use hedges for separating compost pits so that they organically fit into the look of the garden, do not look too bulky for a particular zone and do not "break" the entire structure of the site. Often they are designed as a visual continuation of the hedge that already exists on the site.

In addition to real hedges, you can use decorative screens or trellises entwined with vines. They take up less space and are suitable not only for large, but also for small garden areas

Stationary fences - screens, screens, fence posts, bamboo fences that can replace planted plants as a camouflage. They should be attractive, bright, emphasizing the style of the garden and the dominant materials and colors in it.

Both types of fencing can effectively replace:

  • trees in a row in frames or a line of columnar fruit trees and berry bushes;
  • potted gardens placed on a multi-level stand;
  • a large object of minor architecture located in front of the compost yard, for example, a gazebo, fenced barbecue or imitation of ruins surrounded by plants;
  • a large flower garden with tall plants in the background;
  • support wall or stone flower girl, etc.

If for the manufacture of compost special containers are used, most often plastic, then with such objects it is not at all necessary to resort to a complete masking. After all, the compostiser itself can be turned into a decoration of the site. The easiest method is bright painting, although the use of vines, including annuals or a group of potted plants, is also very effective. A brush and a little imagination, one or two plants - and the container will look like an original fir tree or a miniature garden cottage.

Small compost pits or containers are decorated differently: they are planted with a group of tall perennials or summer plants from the front, hidden behind bushes of your favorite flowers or a mini-flower garden that completely obscures the view. Often, it is summer people who use it to create a flower screen, because it is not always possible to find a place for your favorite one-year-old stars, and an unattractive compost pit can always become an additional place for experimenting with new varieties.

Of course, the shelter can also be purely decorative - in the form of a mat, mat, carpet or mat, laid on top of the film and enhancing heat transfer. You can always use another "quick" method - placement of pot and tub plants.
