A simple fish pie with mackerel and potatoes takes less than an hour to cook. This is a hearty dish in which fish is simultaneously baked with a garnish under a golden and appetizing crust. The filling is very juicy, the pie is so delicious that it flies off the table in an instant! However, if a little still remains, then you can take with you to work - the slices of the pie keep their shape, do not fall apart, it is just as tasty when cold as in hot. The baking dish in this recipe is 26x19 cm in size, so there is not much dough - a thin layer from below is enough, and just cover the filling on top. Remember, that cake is the tastiest, in which there is more filling than dough!

Ingredients for Mackerel and Potato Fish Pie
- 1 mackerel (500-600 g);
- 1 onion;
- 1 carrot;
- 1 sweet pepper;
- 100 g tomato puree;
- 3 medium potatoes;
- vegetable oil, salt, pepper, seasonings for fish broth.
For the test:
- 3 eggs;
- 170 ml of kefir;
- 130 g wheat flour;
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder;
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda;
- 30 ml olive oil;
- 2-3 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds.
How to make a simple fish pie with mackerel and potatoes
We cut fresh mackerel - we separate the head, tail, fins, remove the insides. Thoroughly wash the fish carcass, wash out the dark streak of blood located along the ridge. Cut the prepared fish into 4 parts, put in a saucepan with hot water, add a bunch of fresh parsley, some spices for fish, salt, cook until tender 10 minutes after boiling. We take the boiled fish out of the pan, cool it, separate the meat from the bones.
Pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil into the pan. Put finely chopped onion in the heated oil, add carrots grated on a coarse vegetable grater, fry for 7 minutes. Then put the sweet bell pepper cut into small cubes and tomato puree. Salt, pepper, simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. You can also add celery, fennel, zucchini to vegetables.
Making fish pie dough. Pour kefir into a bowl, break the eggs, add ½ teaspoon of salt, mix the liquid ingredients with a whisk.
Sift wheat flour into a bowl.
Sift baking soda and baking powder into flour through a sieve. There are lumps in soda, so you must either grind it or sift it.
Knead the batter, add olive or melted butter, mix everything thoroughly again and turn on the oven to heat up to 180 degrees Celsius.
Grease with butter and sprinkle with flour on a baking pan. Pour half of the dough onto the bottom of the mold, then lay out the pieces of boiled mackerel.
Lay out a layer of stewed vegetables on top.
