2. Gelikhrizum and its bright competitors with flowers-baskets
Using the status of a favorite among dried flowers, gelichrizum is actively increasing the number of varieties and mixtures of varieties. Charming and very bright colors of its medium-sized inflorescences-baskets of classical shape range from raspberry, pink, orange and yellow to white, lilac and purple.
The unique property of gelichrizum after drying does not lose color for many years makes it the brightest dried flower for winter bouquets. It is not for nothing that this plant is popularly known as "immortelle". Inflorescences-baskets of Gelichrizum consist of an almost hidden yellow core of reed flowers and numerous, dense rows of wrappers that create terry "daisies".
Growing conditions: loose, fertile soils with good drainage, neutral or slightly acidic and as sunny as possible.
Required care: double feeding (2 weeks and a month after planting), watering in a very long drought during the first month after planting.
Cutting time : the inflorescences of Gelichrizum can be cut during the entire flowering period, but only flowers in the bud stage or just starting to bloom are suitable for drying (no more than 2 days).
Drying features: in dry, dark rooms, subject to active ventilation with the heads down.
Helipterum is considered a "paler" copy of Helichrizum, but this summer is not so simple. He really has a limited palette of colors (only pink and white spectrum), but a more beautiful core. The plant itself seems almost wild, charmingly picturesque, brings natural beauty and grace, organicity to any dry bouquets. And the flowers of the plant, even in winter, seem to have just been cut. This is a delicate and graceful annual, which is dried using standard technology.
Ammobium is an annual with spectacular snow-white baskets of inflorescences with a bright and large, voluminous yellow core. It is not so easy to harvest it: you must not skip the stage when the reed flowers are painted in snow white and do not begin to turn brown.
Anafalis is a classic dried perennial flower with chamomile inflorescences, one of the easiest and undemanding plants to grow. The dense panicles of the inflorescences make each individual flower even more attractive. Snow-white daisies with 4-5 rows of dry wrappers on grayish shoots with narrow leaves are cut immediately after the flowers have completely bloomed (no later than a day after opening).
Xerantemum could be ranked among the previous species both by the palette of pink-lilac colors, and by the structure of flowers. But the shape of the petals is more pointed, and the inflorescences themselves are so graceful that it is impossible to confuse it with gelichrisum. Typically, each flower consists of a series of wider outer reed petals and a dense, pom-shaped core of smaller ones, making the flower look like mini dahlias and peonies.
