Eucodonia (Eucodonia, family Gesneriaceae) is a perennial herbaceous rhizome plant native to the tropics of America and southeast Asia. The leaves are ovoid eucodonia, juicy green, densely pubescent with soft hairs. Eucodonia blooms in late autumn - early winter. It was during this period that the plant looks the most attractive, because it is all strewn with tubular flowers about 5 cm long. The flowers are single, with a white throat, rise above the leaves on thin peduncles.
Hybrids of eucodonia with pink-purple, blue, lilac color of the corolla were bred. The most popular are two varieties of eucodonia - Eucodonia "Adell" with blue flowers and Eucodonia Maike, which has lilac petals.

Eucodony requires good lighting, while it prefers bright diffused light, but it is better to shade it from direct sunlight. Increased air humidity is required, in summer it is better to put the eucodony pot on a tray with wet pebbles. The plant is thermophilic; during the period of active growth, it requires a temperature of about 23 ° C.
Eucodonia is watered regularly, with warm (slightly above room temperature) settled water, and during the growth period, it is fed once a month with full mineral fertilizer for decorative flowering plants. After flowering, watering is gradually reduced to 1 - 2 times a month, dried leaves are cut off 1 cm above the soil surface. The rhizomes are removed from the ground and stored in sand or peat at a temperature of 10 - 12 ° C. In the spring they are placed in fresh soil. It is better to prepare a substrate for planting a plant from leaf and greenhouse soil and crushed moss in a ratio of 4: 2: 1.

Eucodonia multiplies by dividing the rhizome, which is cut with a sharp knife into several parts, each of which must have a kidney. The slices are sprinkled with crushed charcoal. Reproduction by seeds, apical and leafy cuttings is possible.
Young shoots and flowers of eucodony often attack aphids. To get rid of the pest, you need to spray the plant with fufanon or actellik.
