Bamboo is an amazing plant that is neither a tree nor a shrub. This is a giant grass, which in its natural growing environment reaches a height of 30-40 meters. Bamboo is the record holder for plant growth. Its seedlings stretch out by several tens of centimeters per day, but this miraculous phenomenon is observed only in nature; at home, bamboo develops much more slowly, since it is home to the tropics and subtropics.

Temperature: Bamboo is a very thermophilic plant. The temperature range in summer should vary between 20-32 degrees, it is recommended that in winter the temperature is not lower than 16-18 degrees. The low temperature of the air when growing this plant leads to the fact that the leaves of the bamboo become soft to the touch, darken and curl.

Lighting: Bamboo loves brightly lit places, withstands direct sunlight, but also responds well to partial shade. In autumn and winter, you can illuminate bamboo with fluorescent lamps.

Watering: In the summer, during the period of active growth, watering is abundant, the clod of earth in the pot should not dry out completely, in winter watering is reduced. Insufficient watering can lead to brown spots on the leaves of the plant.

Humidity: Bamboo responds fairly well to the low humidity of urban apartments. In summer, bamboo leaves can be sprayed occasionally.

Soil: For growing bamboo, clay-sod land is suitable, to which humus and peat are added in a 2: 1: 1 ratio.

Top dressing: In the spring and summer, bamboo is fed a couple of times a month. For feeding, a complex or organic fertilizer is taken. Insufficient nutrition slows down the growth of the plant.

Transplanting: The plant grows vigorously, so it is best to plant the bamboo in a large pot or tub. Adult specimens of the plant are transplanted every 2-3 years. Young bamboo can be transplanted into a larger pot each year.

Reproduction: Bamboo seeds are sometimes commercially available, however, the simplest way is to divide the rhizome during transplantation.
