Atherosclerosis (from the gr. 'Athere' - porridge and 'skleros' - solid) - deposits on the walls of the arteries of fatty cholesterol formations. It is believed that excessive production of insulin leads to this. If its level in the blood is high, a lot of fluid is retained in the body, and the pressure rises. First of all, pay attention to vitamins such as folic acid, C, B6 (pyridoxine), B12.
Also, calcium, magnesium, selenium, carotene affect metabolic processes and vascular elasticity. But starch stimulates the formation of insulin, so it is not recommended to eat a lot of vegetables with its high content (potatoes, corn). Avoid fried foods: all fats change their structure at a temperature of 200-300 degrees.
To prevent atherosclerosis, you should eat plants that contain the above vitamins, as well as a small amount of starch. The wrapper and the artichoke basket contain 10-12% vitamin C, 2-3% protein, 0.4% carotene, vitamins PP, B1, B2, a lot of potassium and iron, inulin and only 1% fiber. By lowering cholesterol levels, it has an anti-sclerotic effect.
However, many vegetables and fruits work as well. These are tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, melons, apricots, apples, pears, plums, berries, etc. But first of all, you need to consult with your doctor about the effectiveness of plants and drugs, the use of which should be limited.
As for the artichoke, this is a cold-resistant culture, but in order for the seeds to sprout faster, they are sown in the soil warmed up to 12-14 degrees. Use seedlings to buy time. Take pots of 0.5 liters, plant a seed in each to a depth of 2-3 cm.If possible, plant the seedlings under a film, you can do this already in February-March. Into open soil - a little later. They are planted according to the scheme 80 × 80 cm, rejecting weak plants.
The artichoke is quite light-requiring, so choose open fertile soils and sunny places for it. But it is not too picky about moisture, so caring for it consists in removing weeds and normal irrigation.
Since the culture is perennial, it may not be possible to see the baskets in the first year (if you planted seedlings, then they will appear in August-September), but in the 2nd year there will be 10-12 of them on each plant.
Avoid opening the wrapper and blooming baskets - they quickly coarse. A sign of this is the appearance of blue flowers at the top. Cut them off unopened.
The artichoke has a refined taste, it is not for nothing that it is considered a delicacy.
