These fruits were brought to us quite recently. We then successfully cultivated only traditional white-fruit zucchini. Zucchini is a green-fruited marrow brought to us from Italy. There are also black, yellow, striped or variegated fruits. There is even a white-skinned variety called Sorcerer. By the way, at first they were grown as ornamental plants.
Zucchini is unpretentious, early maturing, high-yielding, disease-resistant. Outwardly it differs from the zucchini we are used to: the bush is compact, does not branch so much, the leaves are thornless, slightly pubescent, the stalks are also not very prickly. The compactness of the bushes allows you to reduce the area of plant nutrition. Zucchini are more thermophilic, but they keep better than zucchini, they can lie even until the next harvest.
More female flowers are formed on zucchini, moreover, they are early ripening, and therefore ripen earlier than white-fruited zucchini. They also win in taste, which is why more and more in recipes it is advised to replace zucchini with them. Zucchini, in particular, has a more tender and juicy flesh, and their skin does not coarsen as quickly as a squash.
But what plants have in common is the cultivation technique. Therefore, you do not need to look in the reference books for any special rules for caring for zucchini. If zucchini usually grows well in your garden (and practically everyone does), then there will be no problems with growing zucchini either.
So, zucchini should be grown in sunny areas with loose fertile soil. The optimum temperature is 22-25 degrees. They do not like acidic soils and close occurrence of groundwater. Sow the seeds into open soil or grow seedlings. It is important that the ground is well warmed up during sowing. This will tell you the flowering of dandelions.
Care consists in weeding and constant watering, because this is a very moisture-loving culture. Water should not come into contact with leaves and ovaries. Zucchini is a large plant, and therefore, to control weeds, it is effective to mulch the soil between plants and rows with black plastic wrap, making holes in the right place for bushes. This method may seem too expensive to some, but this synthetic mulch can be used many times. It is undesirable to plant zucchini and zucchini after pumpkins, cucumbers, squash - these plants have many common diseases. To get more friendly and early shoots, the seeds are soaked for 4-5 hours in water, and then they are kept in a damp cloth in a warm place for 24 hours. The seeds should be well swollen, but not germinated.

During the growing season, 2-3 additional fertilizing is carried out: it can be fresh mullein, bird droppings, slurry. You can use mineral fertilizers, in particular ammonium nitrate. For feeding, you can also dilute 40 g of complex mineral fertilizer in 10 liters of water.
The benefits of zucchini are worth mentioning separately. They are low in calories, contain easily digestible carbohydrates, pectins, ascorbic acid, PP vitamins, carotene, potassium, phosphorus. Vitamin C in them is more than in white-fruited zucchini. They tend to improve digestion, remove harmful substances from the body.
Like ordinary zucchini, zucchini is recommended to be used for liver and kidney diseases, atherosclerosis. Due to their low calorie content and easy digestibility, they are often used by those who want to lose weight. Zucchini seeds are rich in vitamin E, vegetable oil and proteins. Dried or lightly roasted, they can replace pumpkin seeds.
In cooking, zucchini have also taken their rightful place: they are stewed, fried, pickled, salted, mashed and pancakes are made, young fruits are added to salads raw. Small, finger-long young fruits can be fried whole.
Collect them at least 2 times a week, cutting off the ovaries together with the stalk. Fruit length in the period of consumer maturity should be 15-17 cm, but it is better to take young fruits at the age of 8-10 days. The overgrowth of the fruit slows down the formation of subsequent ovaries. In addition, the larger the zucchini fruit, the less tasty its pulp.
