Calendula inflorescences for medicinal raw materials are removed from the beginning of flowering, tearing them off at the very base. At the beginning of flowering, the inflorescences are harvested after two to three days, with mass flowering - after four to five days. They can be collected up to 15 times per season.

The petals from the fully blooming baskets are harvested as a spice. They are quickly dried in the shade so that they do not lose their color.

Store raw materials in an opaque tightly closed container.

Decorativeness. Calendula is a popular ornamental plant, it is especially good during the flowering period, when large orange or bright yellow baskets bloom. Flowering is long lasting more than a month.

Useful properties. Calendula flower baskets contain about 0.02% essential oil, which gives the flowers a slight peculiar smell. The therapeutic effect of calendula depends in part on the orange pigment carotene (provitamin A). Plants with orange flower heads contain twice as much carotene as light yellow ones.
