Rhipsalis - Rhipsalis. The family is cactus. Homeland - Brazil. Ripsalis, like epiphyllums, have tropical forests as their natural habitat. Rhipsalis live in the treetops of the humid tropical jungles of America, in the eternal twilight. They grow in bushes consisting of thin cylindrical or flat, leaf-like green stems. The flowers are small, white or yellow. Ripsalis bloom in late autumn and winter. This plant belongs to ampelous epiphytes.

Ripsalis placement
In summer, it is advisable to expose Ripsalis to the air, in partial shade, it can be hung from tree branches. The room feels good in a greenhouse on the windowsill. Looks great in vertical compositions.
Ripsalis care
In summer, frequent and abundant watering with lime-free water and regular spraying is necessary. In winter, watering is limited. During the period of growth and development (April-September), Ripsalis is fed every two weeks with ordinary flower fertilizers in a half dose.
The substrate should be loose, with a significant humus content and a small amount of lime. The most suitable substrate is considered to be used for planting bromeliads. The plant is transplanted very carefully, trying not to disturb the root system and not especially increasing the volume of the pot. In this case, the plant will bloom well and for a long time.

Ripsalis pests and diseases
The main pests are aphids, red spider mites. With too much watering, the roots rot. If there is not enough moisture and the air in the room is very dry, the buds begin to fall off.
Reproduction of ripsalis
Reproduction is possible by cuttings, at a temperature of 23-25 ° C and high humidity.
