In gardening handbooks, maiden grapes are listed as an ornamental plant. For me, he is a personal enemy. This surprisingly tenacious and unpretentious vine does not want to grow in the place allotted to it. It is enough not to pay attention to this plant for a month, as the fence of my summer cottage begins to sag under the weight of lush, bright green vegetation.

Yes, let it grow on the fence, because it still looks quite decorative. But the fence is not enough for him - his whips twine around the branches of fruit trees, crawl into the beds, and young plants germinate everywhere - from seeds and from the smallest pieces of stems and roots.

When visiting horticultural centers, sometimes you are amazed, looking at the price tags on the pots with sprouts of girlish grapes. Eh, I would like to find a buyer who would buy my "crop" at such prices. And you still have to think about where to put it.

Its fresh greens do not want to burn on a fire, you cannot bury it in the ground - it will sprout right there, on a compost heap the stalks of maiden grapes rot in at least 4 - 5 years. Some of my neighbors have found a way out - they throw "presents" to their neighbors, but I find this behavior very impolite.

But I still found a use for it. I'm making firewood out of it! When pruning fruit trees, branches remain, which I cut into pieces with an ax for easier disposal. Now, instead of burning wood waste at the stake, I wrap bunches of brushwood with vines of maiden grapes and put them in a woodpile, where they dry. The result is neat "poles".

Of course, you can't heat a house in cold weather with such fuel - it burns very quickly in the oven. But these knits behave well when you need to quickly heat the room. With such a task, using "grape" fuel, the convection oven installed in my dacha copes in 15 - 20 minutes.

And in the grill, such firewood is good. Of course, it is not very suitable for cooking kebabs, but if you need to quickly fry grilled sausages, then it's just right.
