Buddleya is a very decorative shrub with thin shoots, loved by many gardeners and gardeners. It is especially appreciated for its abundant flowering, which begins at the end of July and lasts until the very frost, when many plants are no longer pleasing to the eye.
Buddley is often referred to as "autumn lilac" for their external similarity during flowering. Small flowers are collected in dense spike-shaped panicles or brushes up to 25-30 cm long. Their color can be very different: lilac, purple, white or yellow. A lot of insects flock to the strong honey smell, which is why the bush has received another nickname - "a magnet for butterflies." The Latin name of the plant comes from the name of Adam Buddl, an English botanist who lived at the turn of the 17th-18th centuries.

The plant is easily propagated by seeds, which are sown in a greenhouse in spring or in open ground in a well-heated fertile soil. Seedlings appear in 10-15 days, grow quickly. In a greenhouse, plants bloom in the first year of life, in open ground at the age of 2-3 years. It is also good to propagate buddley with green or ripe cuttings. The latter are cut in the fall and kept in a room with a temperature of more than zero degrees in winter.

In summer, the shrub does not require special care, does not get sick and does not suffer from pests. The most important thing for him is fertile, well-drained soil and a sunny place, preferably protected from the wind. After flowering, it is better to immediately cut off the inflorescences: from this, new flowering shoots are intensively formed and the bush becomes more decorative.

Buddleya is thermophilic, so in autumn the base of the bush should be covered with dry leaves, peat or spruce branches so that the roots do not freeze. Young plants especially need to be insulated. In winter, the stems freeze to the level of snow, but in spring they grow back to a height of 1.5-2 m. And in the middle of summer, new inflorescences develop on each shoot.
