Asters are very unpretentious. They are suitable for creating flower beds, but are especially good for cutting into bouquets. Aster bouquets are stored in water for 18 days.

Asters have dense, double, semi-double and non-double inflorescences. According to their use, they are divided into shear, casing and universal.

  • Cut asters are distinguished by large, beautiful inflorescences with long strong peduncles;
  • Casing grows in the form of a low compact bush with a large number of simultaneously and long flowering inflorescences;
  • Versatile have a compact medium-sized bush with rather long peduncles.

Well-lit places are chosen for growing asters. In autumn, 2-4 kg of manure, 50-80 g of phosphate rock and 30-50 g of potash jubilees are introduced for digging per 1 m2 of soil. In the spring, before planting plants (seedlings) or sowing asters, 20-40 g of ammonium sulfate and 15-20 g of potassium salt should be added per 1 m2.

In various varieties of asters, the period from germination to flowering ranges from 83 to 131 days. Depending on this, they are either directly sown in the ground, or seedlings are planted, which are grown similarly to vegetable plants.

Before sowing, it is advisable to soak all seeds for 15-18 hours in a solution of any micronutrient fertilizer: boric, manganese or molybdenum. The sowing depth of seeds is 0.5-0.8 cm. At a temperature of 18-26 ° C and sufficient soil moisture, seedlings appear on the 3rd-7th day.

Seedlings are planted in a hole, previously filled with water, in such a way as to maintain a distance between plants of at least 20 -25 cm, or thin out those sown in the ground earlier, having previously moistened the plot. Extra plants are used as seedlings.

Plant care consists in regular shallow loosening of the soil, removing weeds, watering as needed. Before flowering, it is advisable to spud the asters to a height of 5-7 cm.

With sufficient soil moisture, fertilizers are applied dry under loosening, in dry weather it is better to pre-dissolve them in water and add them in the form of a liquid top dressing.
