The first signs of the approaching golden autumn - yellowed leaves in the crowns of birches, reddening tops of maples - indicate the readiness of ornamental shrubs, lianas, perennial flowers for autumn division. In September, the division and transplantation of hydrangeas, chubushniki, almonds, cotoneaster, park roses, honeysuckle, grapes, actinidia and other species are well tolerated.

For hydrangea, cotoneaster, chubushnik I choose a windless place in partial shade, where the soil does not dry out, but the water does not stagnate either. You can make a bed along the fence or under the crowns of mature trees, but no closer than 1.5 m to the trunk. I put a sand pillow with a layer of 7-10 cm, then a layer of peat with humus and autumn mineral fertilizers, I spill it well, let the soil settle.
I dig the overgrown bush vertically to the depth of the shovel bayonet within a radius of 30-40 cm, take it out with a lump, shake off the ground, cut off the broken roots, remove the damaged ones. I dip the root system in a 1% solution of copper sulfate or a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate, leave it for 20-30 minutes. Having taken it out of the solution, I divide the bush, dip the delenki into the same solution, and then into a liquid clay mash.
I plant all the plants, taking into account the "wind rose". In our suburbs, it is best to plant delenki with a slight slope to the northwest, in this case, the bulk of the roots will be located on the southeast side of the bush. I slightly bury the hydrangea, chubushniki, cotoneaster in the soil (3-5 cm), and plant the almonds on an earthen cone. I spill the landings well. I tie the upper part of the crown with a soft tape, without tightening it, or cut it off at a height of 30-40 cm. I cut it on the outer bud. If the stems are thick or hollow (forsythia, deytion), cover them with garden var.

If the autumn is dry, and I have to leave for a few days, I cover the plants with plastic wrap, after spraying with an epin solution, and water them. In general, the transplanted cuttings should be watered every 2 days, and every 7-10 days treated with a solution of root, heteroauxin or zircon. During this period of autumn, when it is still warm, my main task is to create conditions for the bushes for rooting in a new place. For this, the average daily air temperature of 14-17 ° C should be kept at least 2 weeks, not lower, at a lower temperature the plant does not take root well.
The end of August - the beginning of September is a good time for dividing bushes of herbaceous perennials: helenium, New England aster, buzulnik, astilba, hosts. I water the aster bush the day before dividing. I make sure that there are 3-4 flowering shoots in the division. The shoots of the New England aster grow quite densely. If the bush is not divided, after 4-5 years its diameter can reach 1 m, the lower part of the stems will become bare. Bushes that are divided every 2-3 years look more attractive. I cut out a part of the bush with a sharp bayonet shovel, dig in from all sides and take it out.
If it is possible to separate the smaller parts, I gently pull the shoots apart, trying not to damage the roots. I cut the peduncles to a height of 30-40 cm. I dip the delenki in a 1% solution of copper sulphate and dipped them for 1 hour into the root solution. I plant delenki in loose soil immediately to a permanent place (part - in partial shade, part - in bright sun, thus prolonging flowering). New England aster is one of the last to complete the flower ball of the outgoing season. It blooms very profusely, not all the buds have time to open before the snow. In cut form, these asters will delight you at home for another 2-3 weeks.
