This indoor plant has beautiful oblong-lanceolate leaves with silvery-green stripes and variegated spots. The most popular are Aglaonema changeable, Aglaonema speckled, Aglaonema Robellena, Aglaonema Freba. Aglaonema (lat. Aglaonema) is a genus of evergreen grasses and shrubs of the Aroid family, or Aronnikovye (Araceae). Homeland - India and the islands of the Malay archipelago.

Accommodation. In summer, the plant is exposed to a bright, but protected from direct sunlight, place or taken out into the open air. For the winter period, they are installed in a bright room with a temperature of at least 16 - 18 ° C. Aglaonema is shade-tolerant, but its variegated forms are more demanding for light.

Leaving. In winter, watering should be moderate, during the rest of the year, abundant. The substrate must not be allowed to dry out. It is recommended to settle the water before watering. In summer, the plant must be sprayed. From March to September, lime-free flower fertilizers are applied twice a month. For the first 5 years, young plants are transplanted into an ordinary flower substrate annually, then every 5 years.

Pests and diseases. The main pests of the plant are red spider mites, aphids, scale insects, mealybugs. Dry, cold air causes great harm to the plant - the leaves of the plant curl and fall off.

Reproduction is possible by apical cuttings, which are placed in heated soil, and by dividing the bushes.

A knot for memory. Be careful: the bright red berries of the aglaonema are poisonous and the plant itself contains substances that irritate the skin.
