Children and gardeners love him very much. If you are lucky and the hedgehog has chosen your site for the next place of residence, create the necessary conditions for him. It is useful in the household, for example, the hedgehog does not stand on ceremony with snails at all.
What was beyond the power of mammoths and their wild relatives, turned out to be up to the little hedgehog: he survived the ice age and now honorably bears the title of one of the oldest mammals. In my opinion, this alone is quite enough to take care of him and create comfortable conditions for life in every garden.

Rogue Knight
At night all cats are gray. However, this does not mean that someone gray who snoops back and forth after sunset is necessarily a cat. As soon as dusk falls, a small sneaky animal comes out to hunt, whose loud puffing in the night makes an impression even on a person with a strong psyche. Of course, we are talking about the hedgehog - a wonderful garden orderly, pest control and snail winner. He needs a threatening snort solely for prevention, because the hedgehog's real weapon is armor of sixteen thousand needles, with which he protects himself from such dangerous opponents as owls and badgers.
Special menu
At about eight in the evening, the hedgehog rushes to dinner. Hold on here, earthworms, snails and beetles! You are the hedgehog's number one dish. True, our gourmet's eyesight is not so hot, but the sense of smell and hearing, wherever, the hedgehog is able to distinguish ultrasonic frequencies.

Bachelor hedgehog
Hedgehogs are bachelors by nature. It costs them nothing to sleep day-day somewhere in shady bushes. Only during the mating season would potential grooms suddenly remember the ladies and go in search of them, and when they find them, they continuously lead round dances around the brides. "Hedgehog carousel" - as people called this custom - is as passionate as it is short-lived. Immediately after the wedding, the marriage falls apart, and the husbands return to their usual life. And hedgehogs after about thirty-five days give birth to four to eight small spiny hedgehogs.
Wintering
In autumn, when natural food supplies are waning, hedgehogs build a dry warm nest from fallen leaves in a secluded corner and plunge into sweet winter hibernation. Curled up into a ball, they reduce energy consumption to a minimum. Their body temperature drops to four degrees, the number of breaths and exhalations drops to three or four per minute. But as soon as the first signs of spring appear, hedgehogs go out to hunt again.

The more natural, the better: the hedgehog prefers to hunt in vast territories not limited by any hedges
How to help a hedgehog
Due to the fact that the natural habitat of forest inhabitants is gradually being destroyed, green suburbs, gardens and villages are increasingly becoming their new homes. Anyone who finds a little robber in his garden should respect his appearance. In order for the hedgehog to have enough building material for a comfortable home, do not rake the fallen leaves clean. If, with your help, he has some firewood or hay, he will definitely not move anywhere from his winter apartment. How easy it is to make a hedgehog happy: a little brushwood, branches that fell during the last hurricane - and a cozy hedgehog house is ready!
