Video: Raw Gooseberry Jam With Orange. Step-by-step Recipe With Photo

Raw gooseberry and orange jam is a piece from the "it can't be faster" series. For cooking, you need a blender, but you can also use the old-fashioned way - twist the fruit through a meat grinder.

Gooseberries of varying maturity are harvested. So, for jelly, unripe berries are used. For raw jam, you need fully ripe ones, which have acquired a color corresponding to the variety. In my garden, a red gooseberry has ripened, so the jam turned out to be very appetizing in appearance, by the way, the taste is also amazing.
There are two reasons for which the owners of the gardens, and especially their children, disliked this tasty and healthy berry.
First, the harvest. I will never forget my hands pierced with sharp thorns, I still feel sorry for myself when I am small. Growing up, I guessed to wear long leather gloves. As a result, the bush remains intact and the hands are intact.
Second, dry gooseberry spouts. Whatever one may say, you have to get rid of them. Over time, the problem is solved: for example, a free labor force appears in the form of a husband and children.
In general, if you work a little, then a few jars of gooseberry jam in winter will come in handy.

Method of preparing raw gooseberry jam with orange
We put the collected and peeled berries in cold water for a minute so that the adhering debris falls off. Then we rinse with running cold water, spread on a towel in one layer and dry. This is an important point, since you need clean and dry berries to make jam.

I wash oranges with soft peels in hot water. All harmful substances must be washed off from the peel - fruit wax, which is used to treat citrus fruits to increase shelf life, and pesticides. It is no secret that fruits are processed on an industrial scale in all possible ways, and somehow you don't want to harvest berries along with elements of the periodic table that are harmful to health. Therefore, I recommend carefully rubbing the peel with an abrasive sponge, and then pouring boiling water over it.
Cut clean oranges into large slices.

Chop the gooseberries until smooth. As I have already noted, a meat grinder or blender solves this problem with equal success.

Chop the oranges until smooth and add to the berry puree.

Pour in granulated sugar, mix. For raw jam, sugar is not needed. My grandmother always made it on the basis of the following ratio: 1 glass of grated berries or fruits needs 1 glass of granulated sugar. It may seem to someone that this is too much, but the jam was always very tasty, it was stored for a whole year, it was not sugared.

Leave the bowl with the berry puree and sugar for a while, so that the sugar is evenly mixed with the fruit and berry mass.

I wash the cans for preparation in a solution of soda, after which we rinse thoroughly with hot water and dry in the oven for 10 minutes at a temperature of 120 degrees Celsius.
Put raw gooseberry and orange jam into cooled jars, tie with parchment or close with clean lids.
Store raw gooseberry and orange jam in a cool and dry place.

By the way, the most delicious sandwich from childhood is a fresh loaf, a thick piece of butter and raw jam, it tastes better than any cake. Bon Appetit!
