Petunias, without exaggeration, are an adornment of any garden. These flowers of a wide variety of colors and shades are distinguished by long and lush flowering, as well as unpretentiousness. However, not everyone can decorate their garden with petunias, because growing its seedlings is a rather laborious process. NEST M preparations will help you grow very good quality petunia seedlings.
Sowing petunia seeds
It takes about 12-13 weeks to grow petunia seedlings, so February is the best time to plant seeds. The seedling soil should be light, moisture-absorbing, breathable and nutritious. As you know, petunia seeds sprout about 2 weeks. However, this process can be accelerated. Since petunia seeds are very small, it will be inconvenient to soak them. It is best to moisten the soil in cassettes well with a fertilizer solution with a high content of soluble (active) silicon and microelements in a chelated (organic) form - Siliplant (40 drops / 1 l of water) before sowing.
Seeds should be poured onto a sheet of white paper, gently transferred with tweezers or a damp toothpick into containers with soil and lightly pressed. You do not need to bury the seeds in the ground, because they need light to germinate. The containers with seeds must be covered with a transparent film. Under the influence of Siliplant, the seeds will sprout 5-7 days earlier! Silicon causes rapid destruction of the seed coat, which provides an active supply of moisture and nutrients to the embryo of the seed. This significantly increases the seed germination energy. In addition, with Siliplant, which has a fungicidal effect, seedlings do not get sick with root rot and black leg.
Petunia seedling care
Do not allow both the soil to dry out and waterlogging. The air temperature should be 20-22 ° С. Wipe off condensation from the film every day.
When the seedlings grow to 4-5 cm, you need to pick the seedlings. In order for the picking to pass painlessly, it is necessary to spray the seedlings with the anti-stress adaptogen Epin-Extra (8 drops / 1 l of water) a day before or immediately after it. It will provide an accelerated production of shock proteins, and plants will easily tolerate the picking stress. In addition, Epin-Extra will increase the seedlings' immunity, and, consequently, their resistance to any stress and disease.
Top dressing of petunia seedlings should be started no earlier than 2 weeks after the pick. For this purpose, you need to use a nutrient solution Cytovit (1-3 ml / 1 l of water, 1 time in 10-14 days, by spraying), containing all the microelements necessary for seedlings in a chelated form. Plants require them in very small quantities, but they have extremely high biological activity: they regulate metabolism, are part of enzymes, enhance the synthesis of phytohormones, etc. In addition, copper, manganese and zinc, which are part of Cytovit, also have a fungicidal effect. They will serve as additional protection of seedlings from diseases.
The main problem when growing petunia seedlings is the lack of lighting at home. The seedlings stretch out, become pale and weak, since the synthesis of the green pigment, chlorophyll, is reduced in the leaves. In this case, Ferovit will help (1-3 ml / 1 l of water, once every 7-10 days, by spraying). It contains iron in the amino chelate form and nitrogen. And iron is a catalyst in the reactions accompanying the synthesis of chlorophyll, which carries out the process of photosynthesis.
Ferovit will restore chlorophyll synthesis and thus ensure the normal course of photosynthesis. And this compensates for the lack of illumination. With Ferovit the seedlings will be healthy and energetically strong, of normal height, with bright green leaves.
It is best to spray seedlings in turn with the following compositions 1 time in 10-14 days:
- for 1 liter of water 8 drops of Epin-Extra + 1-3 ml of Cytovite
- for 1 liter of water 8 drops Domotsvet + 1-3 ml of Ferovit.
With this care, petunia seedlings will be just perfect. Planted in open ground, it will bloom for a long time and profusely.
