The summer cottage season is over and it's time to take stock of the first results. The year was “peppery”, as the harvest of peppers was excellent. Old, well-known varieties have shown themselves well. But we are also interested in learning about new products. Most of all summer residents are interested in large-fruited varieties, with thick walls, sweet and juicy. We present cuboid, elongated cubic peppers and varieties of peppers such as Rotunda or Gogoshary. Take your pick!

We recommend the novelty of sweet pepper - White bull. The variety is distinguished by a friendly return of the harvest in the shortest possible time. Cuboid fruits of this variety reach a mass of 220-250 grams and the main crop (8-10 fruits) is concentrated in the lower tiers. While the later maturing, cuboid varieties (for example, the Spanish bull pepper) were gaining color, this variety was already ready for harvest.

The record for large-fruited peppers was broken by the sweet pepper Kakadu yellow - its elongated cuboid fruits (Lamuyo variety) reached a weight of 390 g, and the average weight was 300-350 g. Today it is the largest-fruited variety. Orange Kakadu pepper is slightly less in weight, but the same fragrant, with juicy thick walls.

By the way! You can increase the yield of peppers using some agricultural techniques - for example, removing the inflorescence ("crown") in the first fork of the stem. This pinching promotes better fruit setting and early ripening. This technique is often used by agronomists when growing tall varieties of peppers in greenhouses.

The record holder for early maturity among cuboid varieties of peppers was the Amber Cup. This variety combines early maturity with excellent setting, rather large fruit (up to 250 g) and excellent peppery aroma. And this is not surprising - orange-fruited peppers are considered by many chefs to be the most delicious.

Cuboid Milky Way pepper weighing 200-250 g, also has excellent taste. The wall of the fruit is strong, with a slight crunch, 6-7 mm thick, juicy. The color of unripe fruits is yellowish-white, while ripe fruits are yellow, glossy. Universal use: fresh and for home cooking.

The peppers Von Baron red, Von Baron yellow and Von Baron orange are being tested. These are peppers of the Rotunda variety, with heavy, flat-round ribbed fruits resembling small pumpkins in shape. The average weight of the fruit was 150-170 g, and the wall thickness with regular watering and feeding reached 9-10 mm, which is close to the maximum for sweet pepper.

For everyone who likes to experiment with unusual varieties of peppers on their site, we recommend growing all three Von Baron varieties at once - red, yellow and orange.

Of course, summer residents want to get a harvest of peppers early, because our summer is short. We recommend planting small, but very early and productive varieties not only in greenhouses, but also in open ground under a film. Low, due to the shortened internodes, sweet pepper bushes quickly form many red or bright yellow fruits. In the open field, such varieties do not require shaping, and how to tie the peppers correctly can be seen in our photos.

With this method of tying plants, it is not necessary to put a support to each bush, it is enough to place the pegs every 1.5-2 m and pull the twine in two rows. Our new varieties of early peppers will reward you with a good harvest.

Sweet pepper Lantern - recommended for growing in open ground and film greenhouses. The plant is of medium height, with shortened internodes. The fruit is conical, 2-3-chambered, 10-12 cm long, with juicy walls 5-6 mm. The color of the unripe fruit is light green, the ripe fruit is sunny yellow. Weight 140-200 g. Recommended for fresh consumption, and retains its taste and aroma when frozen.

Sweet pepper Generosity easily adapts to unfavorable growing conditions without losing large fruit and yield, even in the open field. The plant is semi-spreading, 60-100 cm high. Fruits are weighty, 130-150 g, conical, with walls 6-8 mm thick, when ripe they change their color from yellowish-green to red.

Sweet pepper Prizer is one of the earliest varieties (from germination to technical ripeness about 100 days). Thanks to this, a good harvest is formed even in regions with a temperate climate and a short growing season. Suitable for growing in open ground and film greenhouses. The plant is slightly leafy, tall (up to 1.6–1.8 m in a greenhouse). The fruit is cone-shaped, 2-3-chambered, with juicy walls 5 mm, 10-11 cm long. Weight 100-120 g. The color of the unripe fruit is yellowish-green, the ripe fruit is red, glossy.

One of the largest varieties of early ripening, Sweet Tooth pepper is suitable for growing in open ground and film greenhouses. The plant is short, medium leafy, with shortened internodes. The fruit is cone-shaped, with juicy walls 5–7 mm, 10–12 cm long. Weight 180–220 g. As it ripens, it changes color from light green to glossy red. Fleshy, sweet fruits have excellent taste.

Not inferior to pepper Sweet Tooth in large-fruited new variety Thick Cheeks. Fruits are red, prism-shaped, ribbed, weighing 140-280 g, up to 12.5 cm long, with a bright peppery aroma.

One of the most interesting, in our opinion, varieties turned out to be Dzhigit pepper. Dzhigit is a sweet pepper, although it looks very much like hot peppers. The Dzhigit variety is early maturing, very productive, combining an exotic dark purple fruit color with an unusual shape. Despite the proboscis shape of the fruit, characteristic of hot peppers, this variety has a very sweet pleasant taste when harvested fully ripe. There is no need to rush to harvest such a pepper; it is better to wait until the color of the ripe pepper turns red and glossy.

The fruit is 4–5 mm thick, 15–17 cm long, weight 50–80 g. Peppers are grown mainly in greenhouses, as they often reach a height of 2 m. Such peppers can be used both fresh and for blanks.

Good harvests to you!
