Asian Pacific Garden

Owner::   naturesong
"Submerse your senses & soothe your soul" was the mantra of this garden. The garden started with a complete transformation of the home including new siding, windows and trim to set the stage for the garden's atmosphere. The goal was to create private outdoor garden rooms to enjoy from indoors as well. For an Asian flare, attention to materials and details was explored. A privacy screen at the entry sets the stage and transports the participant from the public space to an intimate entry courtyard that soothes the soul with asian garden ornaments, plants and a water feature of three pots overflowing into a waterless pool. Also, planting the existing terraces between the rear patio and the neighbor's home for privacy was a primary concern and a challenge due to view covenants restricting plant height. In addition, stairs from the front entry garden draws one down to an enchanting mossy garden of stepping stones and rock outcropping for a meditative space. To create privacy in this area, an arborvitae hedge was used to create a "green wall" screening out the road and as the backdrop for rock outcropping a memorial totem and sculptural trees.
